He is the only male student-athlete since the turn of the century to qualify for a national championship for three different schools. Brandt is one of four Georgetown competitors to advance to the Division 1 Outdoor Championships, along with men's teammates Jack Salisbury and Parker Stokes, along with female distance athlete Sami Corman. He boasts personal-best performances of 13:24.31 in the 5,000 and 27:39.20 in the 10,000, and reflects on his experiences competing in December and March against professional athletes at the Sound Running events in Southern California. Brandt also revisits training in Flagstaff, Ariz., with teammates for three months, before arriving in Washington D.C., and examines how beneficial his first altitude experience was in contributing to his success the past seven months. He expresses gratitude for his collaboration with Georgetown coach Brandon Bonsey, in addition to having teammates who have improved his middle-distance performances, in addition to his ability to close the final laps of 5,000 and 10,000 races. Brandt, a graduate of Loyola High in California, reminisces about competing in the 10,000 final in 2018 at Hayward Field and earning his first All-America honor, and how grateful he is to conclude his collegiate career at the new stadium, in addition to racing at the new venue for the Olympic Trials. with the 10,000 scheduled for June 18 and the 5,000 final June 27.
