JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two University of Alabama athletes and two relay teams earned their way to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday, on the third and final day of the NCAA East Regional Preliminaries at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. The Crimson Tide will send 19 athletes in 14 events for an overall total of 15 entries to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, June 11-15. Using a makeshift lineup, Alabama clocked a 39.58 in the men's 4x100-meter relay to earn a trip to Eugene. Three of the usual relay members--sophomore Dwight Davis and seniors Alex Sanders and Akeem Haynes--were joined by senior and five-time All-American long jumper Kamal Fuller, who was competing in his first relay competition this season. Sophomore Justin Fondren wasted no time in his attempt to qualify in the men's high jump, as he cleared each of the four height progressions on the first try. Fondren finished in a two-way tie for first place after a final clearance of 2.17 meters (7 feet, 1.50 inches). Read the full article at: www.rolltide.com
